Washington, B.S.

Joseph Wilson, husband of Valerie Plame, the woman at the heart of the so-called "CIA leak scandal" had this to say after the indictment of Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Vice-President Cheney's Chief of Staff:

"Any time an indictment is delivered to the front door of the White House, the office of the presidency is defiled".

One, the Senate Intelligence Committee (I know, it's an oxymoron) found that Mr. Wilson's statement of events was false, so what weight do his words carry. And two, nobody defiled the presidency like Bill Clinton in terms of indictments and other conduct.

Ted Kennedy said that the indictment "signifies a new low since Watergate in terms of openness and honesty in government".

Mr. Kennedy killed a woman. He put her in a car and drove her into a body of water and walked away and left her to die. Doesn't anybody remember this? He should be rotting in prison rather than pontificating in front of cameras.

The indictment of Mr. Libby is the politicization of the criminal system or the criminalization of politics, or maybe both. In either event, lying to the government should not be a crime. After all, the government lies to us on a regular basis. Don't think so? Think Social Security.

The feeding frenzy has only begun. The MSM, ever willing to crucify Republicans while exonerating Democrats with a wink and nod, will keep this story at the forefront for weeks and months to come. How soon before the speculation begins over whether or not Cheney should resign. How many are already salivating at the prospect.

I personally would love to see Condoleezza Rice in the #2 spot come 2008. Whatever would the Democrats do then?
