Enough is Enough

I really think that my head is going to explode if I hear one more person claim that the reason they are against the war in Iraq is the death count. According to icasualties.org, 2,318 Americans have died in the war.

In the same time that 2,318 Americans have died in the war, 128,525 have died in America in motor vehicle accidents, 300,000 have died in America as the result of adverse reactions to prescription drugs, and between 132,000 and 426,000 have died in America as the result of hospital errors. The averages are as follows:

2 per day in the Iraq War

116 per day from motor vehicle accidents

273 per day from adverse reactions to prescription drugs

between 120 and 268 people per day from hospital errors

It is perfectly okay to be against the war. But unless you also are calling for the abolition of motor vehicles, prescription drugs, and hospitals, don't say it's because of the death count.
