Let's Hear It . . .

The most comprehensive study of its kind found that between 121 and 268 people DIE EVERY DAY from hospital negligence. Compare that to the death toll in the war in Iraq. And, at least here in California, they're getting away with it. Here, where juries prefer to believe the lying doctors that are trotted in front of them, 90% of medical malpractice/negligence cases end in defense verdicts. That means two things: (1) the only people consistently making money on such cases are insurance defense lawyers and their "expert witnesses;" and (2) fewer and fewer plaintiffs' attorneys are willing to take such cases, which means that the butchery will continue unabated.

There is a simple solution to this problem, but don't look for it to happen any time soon. The California Legislature is the official lap dog of the insurance industry and never misses an opportunity to ask "how high" when the industry says "jump."

Stay away from hospitals and doctors! They'll kill you if you give them the chance.

P.S. Did you know that those who work the insurance defense side of litigation are known as "defense whores?" Why do you suppose that is.
