Health Care in America
A friend of mine was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She wasn't worried, after all she had a mammogram every year. The spot was small, and she surely caught it in time. She can be worried now. The cancer is already in her lymph glands.
There are two possibilities here:
1. Her cancer is extremely virulent.
2. Whoever has been reading her mammograms for the past few years is an idiot.
My money is on the latter. After all, there's no money in good health. There's lots and lots of it in sickness.
By the way, the next time you're tempted to feel sorry for the drug industry and its claims of high R & D costs, DON'T. Drug companies spend more to market drugs than they do to develop them. Did you think all those lunesta commercials were free?
