Celebrity Endorsements

The Kelo decision handed down by five black-robed bastards at the United States Supreme Court is the most un-American decision ever from that body. In fact, it's completely unimaginable that they really said what they said, which is: government can take your property at any time for any reason. The "justices" responsible for this decision should be taken out and shot for treason. The government they so obviously espouse is certainly not the government our Founding Fathers envisioned.

Out here in California, the bluest of the blue states, we have the initiative and referendum process. This November, we are being asked to vote on Proposition 90, which seeks to limit the eminent domain powers of government. It's really a no-brainer. A vote in favor of it is a vote in favor of curbing the insatiable appetite of the state. I intend to vote YES. Twice!

In steps a celebrity. A friend of mine sent me something she received, allegedly from a former Hollywood somebody. He claims to be a resident of California, which he is not and hasn't been for decades now. He's against Proposition 90, and he wants you to be against it, too. I'm sure that his appearance will sway some voters, and that's frightening.

Also stepping into the fray is former somebody, Al Gore, speaking out in favor of Proposition 87. I just have to ask. What are Al Gore's qualifications to be speaking on the issue of global warming? Is he a scientist? No. Is he a climatologist? No. Is he even a researcher? Again, no. Everything he knows on the subject has been fed to him by someone else. Unless he has conducted his own research, which we have never heard about, he actually has no opinion of his own. Yet here he is, day after day after day, speaking as though he has some kind of authority, even though he is no more qualified to speak on the subject than my dog. Once again, I'm sure his appearance will sway voters.

If you're going to vote, be an informed voter. If you don't want to take the time to get informed on the issues, then ask the opinion of someone you trust. But, if your sole criteria in voting for or against something is what some celebrity says, then stay home. America deserves better than such uninformed stupidity.
