For the Troops

Think of the soldier, sailor, airman, marine,
the places they are, the things that they've seen.
They stand in harm's way that we may be free.
But for many this year, there's no Christmas tree.

So proudly they serve, asking naught in return.
It's duty and honor that make their souls burn.
For God and for country, for you and for me.
But for many this year, there's no Christmas glee.

The season is here, let's all do our part
to give them a gift that's straight from the heart.
