Thoughts For The Day
Poor Nancy Pelosi. William “Cold Cash” Jefferson was just re-elected in Louisiana, and her choice to head the Permanent Select Committee on “Intelligence” doesn’t know if al Qaeda is made up of Sunnis or Shiites, even though he is “acutely aware of al-Qaeda’s desire to harm Americans.” He may have been on the intelligence committee for years, but he certainly wasn’t paying attention. Feel safer?
Some outfit called the Military Religious Freedom Foundation believes that Christian military officers who share their faith at work in the Pentagon pose a threat to national security. Why, you may ask? Because public displays of faith by military officers make it appear that America is a Christian nation waging war on non-Christians. For my money, it’s the islamic fanatics who are waging war on America in the name of their god who are the real threat to national security. But that’s just me.
Deval Patrick, the newly-elected governor of Massachusetts, who pledged “transparency and openness” in government, has made all of the volunteers named to his transition working groups sign confidentiality agreements. Where I come from, transparency and confidentiality are wholly different, but then again, this is Massachusetts we’re talking about, where driving a woman into a body of water and leaving her there to die is only “leaving the scene of an accident.”
An AIDS organization is launching an advertising campaign saying that Pfizer’s marketing of Viagra encourages recreational use of the drug, which fosters the spread of sexually-transmitted diseases such as HIV and AIDS. The recreational use of any drug does not spread disease. Promiscuous sexual behavior spreads disease. Here’s an idea: Take responsibility for your own actions instead of blaming a big pharmaceutical company.
A recent USA Today/Gallup Poll revealed that fewer than 1 in 5 have a “great deal” of trust in President Bush to “recommend the right thing” for the United States to do in Iraq. Just so you know, 1 in 5 is 20%. The same poll revealed that confidence in democrat congressional leaders to chart the proper course is only 14%. The democrats haven’t even taken over leadership yet, and the people already have no confidence in them. Feel safer yet?
The imams who were taken off a US Airways flight now say they want an out-of-court settlement. Well isn’t that the way of it. They like living in our country. They like the benefits this country has to offer, including the justice system. So just what is it exactly that their maniacal brethren are so keen to destroy?
Heard tell that intelligence agencies during the Clinton administration were spying on Princess Diana. Sounds like Bubba was trolling for a date. Well, she was single and he thought he was.
If environmentalists really believe that human beings are destroying the planet, don't they have an absolute duty to kill themselves?
