Rick Perry, the Republican Governor of Texas, has issued an executive order that all girls entering the 6th grade must get a new vaccine for a sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer. Texas is the first state in the nation to do so. Other states are considering it.

This is simply unbelievable. This vaccine was approved by the FDA in June. According to Merck’s own website, the phase III program only followed women for an “average” of two years. Where are the long term studies on the possible and future side effects? Hormone replacement therapy was all the rage until it was discovered that it offered none of the protective benefits it promised and, in fact, caused cancer and blood clots.

Elected officials are notoriously reluctant to apologize for their mistakes. These young girls could very well pay the physical and emotional price because an overzealous do-gooder decreed that young girls will have this shot. This is nothing more than government-ordered medical experimentation on a helpless segment of society.

Sounds vaguely familiar, doesn’t it.
